The Village of Learning Parent Handbook

Everything your family needs to know — hours, tuition, safety procedures, and how we communicate — in one place.

Our Philosophy

At The Village of Learning, we're committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child feels loved, valued, and inspired to learn. Our goal is to partner with families to build a strong foundation for lifelong success by focusing on the whole child.

  • • Build confidence and a positive self-image by celebrating each child's unique personality, strengths, and accomplishments.
  • • Provide a safe, secure, loving, and inclusive environment where children feel respected, supported, and excited to learn.
  • • Encourage independence and responsibility, helping children build the confidence and self-help skills to become capable, compassionate members of their community.
  • • Recognize and respect the individuality of every child, honoring their unique learning style and pace.
  • • Promote social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development through hands-on, engaging experiences.

Meals

Nutritious CACFP-approved breakfast, lunch & snacks daily.

Safety & Supervision

The safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. Staff maintain active supervision at all times, remaining alert, engaged, and aware of each child's location and activities throughout the day.

Every child is signed in upon arrival, and classroom attendance records stay with the group at all times — including outdoor play, transitions, and emergency evacuations. Staff conduct and document head counts throughout the day, at minimum every 30 minutes and during every transition: entering and leaving a classroom, before and after outdoor play, restroom breaks, meals, and nap time.

Scanning

Teachers continuously observe the entire environment, frequently looking around the classroom and playground to monitor every child's location, behavior, and interactions.

Positioning

Staff position themselves to maintain clear sight and hearing of all children, avoiding gathering together or turning their backs on children for extended periods.

Listening

Staff actively listen to children's voices and the sounds within the environment — changes in noise level, tone, or silence quickly alert staff to situations requiring attention.

Engagement

Staff remain actively involved with children through conversation, play, and instruction while maintaining awareness of the entire group.

Drop-off & Pickup

  • Children should arrive no later than 9:00 AM. Breakfast is served during the designated breakfast period and is not available after 9:00 AM.
  • A $50 late pick-up fee applies beginning at 5:35 PM, plus $1.00 per minute after that.
  • • Children are released only to authorized pick-up persons. Changes must be submitted through ProCare in writing, and a valid photo ID may be required.
